Diving medical check-ups
Official recreational and professional diving medical examinations
The IEM is a reference centre for official medical examinations, consultations and expert reports in Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine (over 1,000 people in the last 3 years) carried out by doctors qualified and recognised in this specialty by public administrations in Spain in accordance with the provisions of article 25 of the Ministerial Order of 14 October 1997 on safety regulations for diving activities. Expert reports are also prepared for legal proceedings.
BASIC DETAILS FOR A DIVING MEDICAL EXAMINATION
The service takes approximately 30 minutes and costs 65€.
Among others, the basic tests carried out are:
- Targeted history taking in the context of diving pathophysiology.
- Physical examination (cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurological, etc.)
- Resting and activity-related electrocardiographic monitoring.
- Other monitoring (pulse oximetry, co-oximetry, BP, etc.)
- Others, depending on the patient, and the progress of the initial examination itself.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
It is necessary to provide the following documentation:
- Official medical certificate form. Available at any tobacconist's.
- Professional diving logbook: mandatory for professional divers.
- Recreational diving logbook: depending on the organisation
