Sudden cardiac arrest affects 25,000 people a year in Spain, with a survival rate of 5\u20137%. The Chain of Survival (alerting emergency services, immediate CPR, rapid defibrillation) can save lives.<\/p>\n

The cardioprotection programme trains professionals and citizens to create cardioprotected spaces and install defibrillators, ensuring a quick and effective response in emergency situations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

What is a cardioprotected space?<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

It is that space or area where, as a result of planning and the provision of adequate resources, the necessary actions in the event of a sudden death can be carried out, which are included within what is known as the chain of survival (safe approach, recognition of cardiac arrest, alerting emergency services, early CPR and early defibrillation) in accordance with the 2015 recommendations of the European Resuscitation Council<\/p>\n

A cardioprotected space must have staff trained in quality CPR and an easily accessible AED for first responders, in order to achieve defibrillation within the first 4 minutes of a cardiac arrest occurring.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Spanish legislation, whether state or regional, regulates certain aspects of the catalogue of activities and centres required to adopt self-protection measures and determines the content of these measures.<\/p>\n

Some decrees establish the requirement in certain establishments, whether public or private, to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and the corresponding personnel trained and duly authorised to use them.<\/p>\n
